Before we knew her as Octomom the media had only provided the bare facts: 8 kids, invitro, 6 older kids and no verifiable daddy/husband. Oh, and she also was unemployed and collecting welfare.
Suppose that was all we ever learned? How would she be faring today? How would Octomom and her brood be doing with their anonymity? But the media got a hold of her and she was interviewed by Ann Curry, Dr. Phil and Oprah. We learned that this Angelina Jolie wannabe loved kids so much that she wanted a litter of ‘em. That, or was it just some sort of hobby to see how many she could have?
Back in February 2009 Octomom was a novelty act. My mom and I watched the interviews and she was of the opinion that the mother of 14 fatherless kids was “delusional.” She did not add that I came off looking rather normal. I was job hunting, I was just hired on to do some local writing for a small newspaper, and I had no kids. So, when my mom watched the sideshow circus that was becoming the Octomom phenomenon, I encouraged her. And when she saw Octomom’s mom, Angela, being a perpetual babysitter for the 6 oldest kids, my mom was upset that the woman couldn’t enjoy her retirement. So, next to Octomom, I didn’t look so bad!

What a character!!Forget about 'motherhood'. Your mum's right - poor beleagured life for Octomom's mom.
Yes, Octomom was and is a character--nicely put! But my mom truly felt so much compassion for the grandmother that it was touching.
i pity the kids, and have zero use for HER! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
The general consensus seems to be derision for Octomom and sympathy for the kids.
