Been Away – But Not At Play!

I've been on a leave of absence from writing "Leaving Nadir" as I was involved in co-writing a nonfiction e-book.  Haven't written one of those in a while -- the last one was about ice skating and that was a few years ago. Unlike my skating e-book, which also had to be fact-filled and accurate, "Paranormal Reality: Investigating Paranormal State" involved viewing lots of footage and listening to audio. I also interviewed several people. That was fun. One interviewee went from saying please quote me to, oh no, don't reveal my name. Did that change things? You betcha!

Maybe you have or haven't heard of the A&E TV show, "Paranormal State". It began in 2007 and is now in its last season. If you've watched it, you know it's about a group of paranormal investigators seeking proof of ghosts. It's different than "Ghost Hunters" [the SyFy show that paved the way]. In each episode of "Paranormal State" you can see psychics and paranormal investigators trying to help distraught families troubled by haunted houses.

This book is a bit of a departure for me and I'm an unbiased enough to write about the paranormal field. I've learned more about people who seek out paranormal matters and appreciate the fact that they have so much enthusiasm for their work.

My next goal is to get back to working on Leaving Nadir and continuing that journey. It should be back next month.

Welcome baaaaaaack!!! Gosh you have been busy and quite amazingly so too!!!! Paranormal reality!! Oh wow - that's so interesting!!!! I would never dismiss this concept - it's important to some people and has validation in the real fear and awe such a thing inspires and instills! Take care

Thanks, OK! I've also discovered that paranormal can mean controversy. Am looking forward to working on my blog again & trying to read more!

Talli,
Good to see you & hope your new book is going well.

Paranormal is very IN these days, so it seems to me. I'm woefully ignorant of the genre, though I have tried a few paranormal YA books recently. They didn't grab me. But I'm sure if I branch out I'll find some stunning ones in the genre.

I suspect you're learning a lot from this co-writing detour. It's all good experience!

Thanks, Ann.
It has been an education. But now I want to go back to writing fiction--it's more fun for me! :)

I figured out what happened. I was on hiatus from the blog when you wrote this. So natch, I missed it.

Wow, love that whole paranormal thing. I used to watch Ghost Hunters when we had cable. The two guys are from RI where I was from. Used to scare me witless.

Well, I'm glad I found out you hadn't disappeared. Can't wait to find out what happens when you left Nadir.

And thanks for the head's up on Notes from Nadir. It WAS me. Yay!!!

Anne,
Ghost Hunters is way more popular than Paranormal State.

I think we were on hiatus around the same time but you got back a lot earlier.

Glad you won! I'll be sending it over soon! :)
